First, I didn't blog after my treatment in late October because it was awful. I felt terrible most of that week and generally didn't wish to talk about it.
During the third week of Oct, Jim, Katie, and I went to Lake Lure for vacation. We stayed at an AirBnB called Daffodil Hill. It isn't on the water, but from the hill, the lake can be seen. The house is beautiful and spacious. The decks were a wonder! There is one for outdoor eating, the top deck outside the living room has a fire pit, and the lower deck outside the video game room has a swing and two chair hammocks. I thought I'd love the swing, but it is the size of a daybed and my legs were too short to comfortably propel it. The hammocks, on the other hand, were just right. They were my Goldilocks place! And, of course, the Harry Potter room was a delight for reading. The internet in the area is slow but there is plenty to do. We hiked some trails, shopped the small shops of Chimney Rock (got some lovely Christmas presents), went on the boat tour of the lake, and did an outdoor tasting at a winery/meadery in Hendersonville. In the evenings, I read and worked on some sewing I took with me. It was a lovely time.
My most recent chemo treatment was this past Tuesday. It went better than the one before, but I still felt really queasy for a few days. I finally got around to going to the dentist. No real issues with my teeth, but they did suggest using Biotene to rinse with periodically because chemo dries out my mouth so much. I got my Covid vaccine booster on Friday. I'll get my flu shot next week. I didn't want to get them together during the week of chemo, in case the fatigue was too much. My next infusion was to be next week, but with Thanksgiving, the schedule didn't work. I still have the pump that runs for 46 hrs each time, so I couldn't go on my usual Tuesday/Thursday. I'll go on Nov. 29.
My mental health continues to slip. With less sunlight, I always decline somewhat, but now it is an exacerbation of what I've been dealing with lately. I am taking my antidepressant 2x a day now, instead of one, which has helped a bit. I am walking 2 miles 3x a week when I feel good, one mile if I don't. And I realized I need to reach out to my therapist to make an appointment. Please pray for all of us here, even the cats (one has an issue and they both get their rabies shots next week...poor kitties). Thank you for all your prayers so far and for traveling this road with me!
