Nothing really new right now, in terms of my infusions. I am back to only feeling sick for one day, although that one day is pretty rotten! I've been having trouble with my left hip. My oncologist wants to make sure it isn't a fracture or cancer-related. He ordered an MRI on Dec. 28, and on the 30th, Novant called to schedule. I took the first available on Jan. 3 at 10:15am. Got to the appointment and I was informed that the insurance company hadn't authorized the procedure. Further, the order hadn't even been submitted to the insurance. I called the oncologist's office, and the person who handles referrals said she just got back- I assume she'd been out the whole week after Christmas. I'm not sure why no one was taking on her responsibilities while she was gone, but perhaps they had a lot of people isolating due to the Covid surge. Anyway, I had to reschedule to January 17, which means I'll have my next infusion the day before my 50th birthday and my pump disconnection the day after. Here's hoping my bad day isn't in between! My CT scan will be in February. I'll have another endoscopy in April.
Jim and I celebrated our 26th anniversary on New Year's Eve. Along with my birthday, I am so thankful for the years God has given me!
I have been reading some fascinating books lately. Ex-Muslim is by Naaem Fazal, pastor of Mosaic Church in Charlotte. It chronicles his conversion and call to both pastoring and starting the church here. A great read- I highly recommend! The next book I devoured was Surprised by the Power of the Spirit: Discovering How God Speaks and Heals Today by
Jack Deere. Um, WOW. I am now looking for more books on the Holy Spirit. If you have recommendations, please let me know on Twitter @eclecticsuzy or on Facebook at Suzy Benson DiCicco. Finally, the most recent book I finished was Chasing a God You Don't Want to Catch by Darren Wilson. Here is a portion of the synopsis on Goodreads: "In this book we'll look at a wide variety of lies even life-long Christians believe about God, and we will attempt to dive past those lies and see the true nature of God's heart and character based on stories in the Bible where God and man intersect." Another one I highly recommend! I am currently reading the Bible in chronological order. I am fasting in two ways- one related to food, the other related to media consumption. I will be fasting from food one day a week. I have gained plenty of weight back, so once a week shouldn't interfere with my health. On the subject of media consumption, I have certain websites that are time sucks and I find myself staying up too late at night because I've spent so much time on them.. I am taking a break from them and will establish some boundaries when I come back to get on a healthier track, both physically and spiritually.
